Patty McGeever Licensed Clinical Social Worker I am a Christian counselor who has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the State of Texas since 1987. I graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work. I received my Masters of Science in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University in 1982. My experience includes working in a variety of settings including hospitals as a grief counselor, Texas State School, Children’s Home, outpatient and inpatient alcohol and substance abuse treatment and out patient psychiatric clinic. From 1999 to 2007, my husband and I served with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Papua New Guinea. I worked as a counselor for 400 missionary families from over 20 different countries and cultures. Our family returned to Houston in January 2007 and I have established a private practice. I have experience in working with adults, adolescents, and children. I specialize in helping people in the area of depression, fear and anxiety, marriage problems, traumatic incidents, parenting issues, cross cultural and transitional issues, communication problems, stress management, self-esteem issues, family-of-origin conflict, and grief and loss issues. I have advanced training in Critical Incident Stress Management. My desire is to be God’s instrument and provide people with the same comfort, encouragement and hope I have received from the Lord Jesus. “For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.” II Cor. 1: 5. I want you to know that I believe that a relationship with God is of the utmost importance in experiencing all that God intended you to be, but I will also be sensitive to where you are in your own spiritual life.
